Suleiman Halilu, Chief Executive Officer of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) will address the Conference of the Parties (COP28) on Agency’s strategies for rural electrification in Nigeria.
TheNewsZenith reports that 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) opened on Thursday at the Expo City, Dubai, UAE.
The Agency in a statement said Halilu will on Sunday, participate in a panel session on the sideline of the conference.
The session is titled “Advancing Sustainable Rural Electrification through Homegrown Technologies”.
The COP28, also known as the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC), will end on Dec. 12.
It will afford governments to agree on policies to limit global temperature rises. They will also agree on measures to adapt to impacts associated with climate change.
Presidents, government officials, business leaders, investors, development partners, civil society organisations, academics and media will grace the event.
During panel session, NASENI boss will speak, alongside Gunther Beger, Managing Director, Directorate for SDG Innovation and Economic Transformation, UNIDO.

Gov. Mohammed Bago of Niger State and Miklós Veszprémi, Climate and Sustainability Consultant at Boston Consulting Group will also participate.
Halilu is expected to discuss NASENI’s roles in promoting development and adoption of homegrown technologies for rural electrification in Nigeria.
He will also speak on other initiatives undertaken to advance sustainable rural electrification in the country.
Since assumption of office, the CEO has made sustainable rural electrification via renewable energies as one of his key priorities.
In September, NASENI and REA agreed to work towards deploying solar resources and other renewable energy technologies to increase electricity supply to Nigeria’s rural areas.
Also in November, the Family Homes Funds Limited signed an MoU with the NASENI to promote modern and sustainable building designs for affordable housing across Nigeria.
