….operatives arrest two ladies
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it raided a snake-guarded shrine used to store illicit drugs in the Igor community, Benin City, Edo state.
In a statement emailed to TheNewsZenith on Sunday, NDLEA said its operatives detected a specially constructed large hole storage in a wall covered with wallpapers and fetish objects.
Different quantities of illicit
According to the statement, the operatives pulled out large quantities of illicit substances from the hole dug in the wall of the shrine.
Recovered substances included methamphetamine, Loud, Colorado and Arizona, all strong strains of cannabis with a total weight of 8.743 kilogrammes.
The anti-drug agency also stated that its operatives arrested two ladies during the intelligence-led operation, on Tuesday, June 18. Their arrest came after operatives had demobilised the big black snake guarding the shrine.
Also, the agency arrested two other suspects on Saturday, June 22 its operatives raided the Usen forest in Ovia South West in the state.
NDLEA operatives recovered 209 kilogrammes of cannabis and a motorcycle from the suspects.
Meanwhile, in Lagos, officers of the anti-drug agency intercepted a carefully packaged consignment of 8.2 kilogrammes of methamphetamine at a motor park in Mazamaza, Ojo area of the state.
It arrested a 39-year-old suspect (names withheld), in connection with the substance on Wednesday, June 19 at the park.
The suspect allegedly packed the illicit substance, also called ice or crystal meth, in imported Dunkin’ turtle love chocolate wraps.

According to the statement, he concealed the substance in the casing of three loudspeakers.
The suspect allegedly packaged the substance as a consignment for delivery to Owerri, Imo state.
Similarly in Abuja, operatives, on Tuesday, June 18 intercepted a white Nissan Frontier pickup vehicle in Kuje, FCT.
The vehicle with amber lights and a fake registration number of a security agency, was loaded with 454 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa.
The drug weighed 340.8 kilogrammes and was procured at Uzeba, Edo state.
NDLEA stated that its operatives arrested a 76-year-old grandfather (name withheld) in connection with the consignment.
The grandfather allegedly claimed he has been in the illicit drug business for 10 years.
