The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has solicited logistic support from the Kwara State Government to enhance its operational efficiency and tight security surveillance in the state.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Muhammed Ibrahim, made the appeal during an interactive session with newsmen on Thursday in Ilorin.
Ibrahim said the logistics support would ensure adequate security in the state.
He noted that there were security challenges in some parts of the state and has started affecting the peace and stability, underscoring the urgent need to tackle the concern.
“There are rampant cases of theft, vandalism, cultism and kidnap across the state, which needs immediate attention for the people to have rest of mind and go about their normal businesses without fear.
“NSCDC and other security agencies are making efforts to ensure adequate security, but there is a need to do more.
“We have the personnel in NSCDC to curb insecurity, the only challenge we have is logistics, especially the lack of enough patrol vehicles.
“We need patrol vehicles in all the 16 local government areas of the state in order to promptly answer and attend to distress calls at any time,” the commandant said.
He, however, said that the national headquarters of NSCDC had been informed of the need for more patrol vehicles for quick response to distress calls, and appealed to the state government to compliment the support by providing more patrol vehicles for operational efficiency.SCDC
