The Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund (NSSF) has launched the 2024 edition of its WeNaija Contest, a creative platform, aimed at engaging Nigerian youths in advocacy against drug abuse.
TheNewsZenith reports that the Managing Director/CEO of NSSF, Dr Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko, announced the launch, at the weekend, in Lagos.
Chinye-Nwoko said the campaign encourages young people to address critical health issues through creative expression.
“Now in its fourth edition, the WeNaija campaign, focuses on the rising concern of drug abuse in urban areas, a significant issue affecting many young Nigerians.
“Since its inception in 2021, the initiative has impacted thousands of youths, equipping them with advocacy tools.
“It also equipped them with skills to advocate for healthcare reforms through mediums such as photography, literature, and video storytelling,” TheNewsZenith quotes her as saying.
The theme of this year’s edition of the contest is “Voice Your Change”.
Over 2,000 young Nigerians have participated in health advocacy projects in the past three years.
This has led to meaningful discussions, with solutions for community health challenges.

“Participants, aged 18 to 35, are invited to submit a one-to-two-minute video around the theme “Voice Your Change,”.
“It should highlight the causes and impact of drug abuse in their lives or communities while suggesting innovative solutions.”
According to the organisers, winners will receive prizes worth N10 million and recognition at the WeNaija YouthFest in November.
Chinye-Nwoko encouraged youths to register on the NSSF website and upload their videos on Facebook or Instagram.
They should tag the video ‘NSSF’ and use the hashtag #WenaijaVoiceYourChange.
She highlighted the importance of creating open and honest conversations about drug abuse and empowering young people to drive meaningful change in their communities.
