NUSA felicitates President-elect, new NANSSA leadership

London, Jan. 29, ’25 (TNZ) Nigerians in South Africa have advised the newly elected Executive Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students South Africa (NANSSA), to discharge its duties with the utmost integrity.

TheNewsZenith reports that the Nigerians urged the Exco to also adhere to the constitution of the body and strive to excel in all endeavours.

The President of Nigeria Union South Africa, Smart Nwobi gave the advice in a congratulatory message on Wednesday in Pretoria.

TheNewsZenith recalls that 41 delegates from 13 tertiary institutions in South Africa elected the new NANSSA leadership on Jan. 18.

Mr Ikechukwu Onumajulu of the University of Pretoria emerged as the President.

“A warm congratulations to the NANSSA leadership, particularly President-elect Mr Ikechukwu Onumajulu and the Electoral Matters Committee (Elcom) Chairman, David Yusuf, (PhD) and his team.

“As the NANSSA BOT Chairman, I’m honoured to acknowledge your dedication and commitment to the organisation.

“I charge the President-elect Ikechukwu Onumajulu to discharge his duties with utmost integrity.

“He should adhere to the constitution of NANSSA and strive to excel in all endeavours,’’ ThenewsZenith quotes Nwobi as saying.

The NUSA president, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of NANSSA, thanked the Elcom team for tirelessly driving the organisation forward.

He noted that the team’s expertise and leadership had been instrumental in shaping the future of NANSSA’.

NANSSA is the apex Nigerian student organisation in South Africa, It has had six successive presidents.

NANSSA has been catering for and representing the interests of Nigerian students in South Africa since its founding in 2008.

Other elected members of the exco are Favour Amarachukwu Chukwuka of Regenesys Law School (Vice-President), David Asakitikpi of North-West University (Secretary-General) and Zainab Ogunlana, Tshwane University of Technology (Assistant Secretary-General).

The rest are Anita Solarin of the University of Pretoria and Ann Asakitikpi, Independent Institute of Education formerly Monash University, (Directors of Events/Public Relations), Grace Ikwen, University of Johannesburg (Director of Welfare) and Fredric Rotimi George (Provost). (TNZ)
