Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Ondo State governorship election.

TheNewsZenith reports that Aiyedatiwa defeated the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr Agboola Ajayi and other candidates, securing the majority of votes across the state’s 18 local government areas.

While announcing the final results of the election, the State Returning Officer, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, said Ayedatiwa polled 366,781 votes to defeat Agboola Ajayi of PDP, who got 117,845 votes.

“Ayedatiwa Lucky Orimisan of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby returned elected,” TheNewsZenith quotes Akinwumi as declaring.

Here are the results, local government by local government.

TheNewsZenith recalls that Gov. Ayedatiwa became the substantive governor of Ondo State on Dec. 27, 2023, to complete the second term of his predecessor.

This transition occurred following the passing of Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu due to complications from prostate cancer.

Before this, due to health challenges, Aiyedatiwa had been serving as acting governor after Akeredolu transmitted power to him earlier in December 2023.
