Petroleum tanker drivers back Tinubu’s oil sector agenda

From Our Correspondent

The Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) association says time has come to work with the Federal Government, stop strikes and ensure an adequate supply of petroleum products.

Mr Lucky Osesua, President of PTD, while chatting with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

Osesua urged PTD members nationwide to go about their normal duties to actualise the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

“This is a time for the PTD to stand on its own and focus on the primary objectives of its formation.

“The objective is the delivery of petroleum products to all the States and locations within the Federation,” he said.

Osesua said PTD would no longer go on any strike that could affect the masses.

“Rather, we will explore alternative options.

“Whenever NUPENG calls for a strike, we always feel so bad as it is against the poor masses and businessmen.

“In the end, the outcome of the strike will not benefit PTD members.

“So, our members would not be used again as a tool against the Nigerian masses and the Federal Government.

“Henceforth, decisions we undertake will be in the interest of the suffering masses,” Osesua said.

He also said that the union is working tirelessly to resolve its leadership crisis.

“We do not intend to work against the progressive and policies of President Tinubu’s administration. Neither do we want to be an attack dog to the Federal Government.

“PTD is a recognised association of its own and we wants to concentrate on the core objectives establishing it.”

Osesua appealed to security agencies to always work in a friendly manner with PTD members whenever they meet on the road.
