The Police in Katsina State, on Saturday, foiled a banditry attack in Jibia Local Government Area and rescued six kidnap victims.

TheNewsZenith reports that the Spokesman of the Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, announced the incident in a statement on Sunday in Katsina.

Aliyu stated that the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters received distress on Oct. 19 about a bandits’ attack at Unguwar Batsaka quarters in Jibia town.

According to him, the bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, shot sporadically in an attempt to kidnap some residents.

“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at  Jibia, mobilised a team of operatives in collaboration with the military and other security operatives to dislodge the bandits.

“In the process, the operatives engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel that lasted about an hour.

“The operatives’ superior firepower forced the bandits to flee the scene with bullet wounds,” TheNewsZenith quotes from the statement.
