Police nab female gunrunner, drug baron

Lagos,  March 18, ’25 (TNZ) The Police have recorded significant disrupted criminal activities and apprehended individuals involved in arms smuggling, drug trafficking and currency counterfeiting.

Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced the successful operations in a statement emailed to TheNewsZenith, on Tuesday, in Lagos.

”These accomplishments are exemplified by the efforts of the Force’s several tactical teams, including the Force Intelligence Department-Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS).

”On Dec. 23, 2024, at about 5.50 p.m., operatives of FID-STS intercepted one Hauwa Sani, a 30-year-old female resident of Doro village, along the Keffi/Abuja Expressway.

”Police operatives apprehended her in possession of 124 rounds of live ammunition of various calibres.

”She concealed the ammunition inside a 5-litre container of palm oil.

The suspect confessed that one Nasiru of Daura tasked her to deliver the ammunition to Katsina State,” TheNewsZenith quotes Adejobi as stating.

Further investigations led to several other recoveries and arrests of suspects now undergoing profiling.

The Force urged citizens to be wary and conscious of the antics of these smugglers.

”Suspicious items should be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.”

In another operation on Feb. 1, operatives of the FID-STS, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted three persons all residents of Postiskum, Yobe State.

Adejobi named the suspects as Alhaji Usman Yahaya ‘m’ 50, Joseph Matthew ‘m’ 27, and Solomon Bala ‘m’ 25.

Police recover hard drugs from bandit supplier

According to the Force PRO, they confessed that the drugs were intended for supply to bandits, Boko Haram insurgents and kidnappers terrorising Yobe State.

Meanwhile, on Feb. 3, operatives of FID-STS also apprehended another three suspects with 10 AK-47 rifles.

Adejobi gave their names as Yusuf Dantani ‘m’ 24 yrs, Usman Labaran ‘m’ 32 yrs and Musa Mohammed ‘m’ 23 yrs.

Upon interrogation, they confessed to being involved in several arms dealings.

They also confessed to receiving N3,980,000 for the last batch of arms they were supposed to trade.

”These successful operations highlight the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to proactively combat crime, disrupt criminal networks and ensure the security of all citizens.

”The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its efforts to dismantle criminal enterprises and bring perpetrators to justice.

”We urge the public to continue to support our efforts by providing timely and accurate information that can aid in crime prevention and detection,” TheNewsZenith quotes the Police as further stating. (TNZ)
