Ibadan, March 8, ’26 (TNZ) A renowned local fibric dealer, Alhaja Sikira Adunni Aladire, has died, aged 90 years, TheNewsZenith reports.
Grandma Aladire answered the last call from her Creator on Monday, March 2, at her Ile Toki residence, No. N1/506 Balogun Ibikunle Street, Ayeye, Ibadan.
TheNewsZenith reports that Aladire has since been laid to rest in accordance with Muslim rites.
In a statement, Alhaji Ganiyu Oladimeji, the Head of Family, noted that Grandma Sikira trained in the art of “Tie and Dye”.
“She became highly skilled in designing traditional and cultural patterns of Adire.
“Her talent and creativity in producing intricate designs on local fabrics for both special occasions and casual wear earned her the nickname “Sikira Aladire”.

“Her journey in the craft dates back to pre-independent Nigeria ( mid 1950s), an era when foreigners, colonial masters, and mistresses frequently visited Ile Toki to admire and buy her hand-woven fabrics.
“Ile Toki was famous for its renowned tie-and-dye products. This is where fabrics are crafted with exceptional skill and creativity,” Oladimeji said in the statement emailed to TheNewsZenith.
Grandma Aladire left behind a large family, including children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Her children included late Sarah Alimi, Abibat Alimi, Suleiman Azeez and Latifat Balogun.
TheNewsZenith reports that as of the time of filing this report, the seven-day Fidau prayer for the deceased is being held at Ile Toki, House No. N1/506 Balogun Ibikunle Street, Ayeye, Ibadan. (TNZ)
