Two persons died in a clash between policemen on duty and gunmen on Monday night in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
SP Chris Anyanwu, Spokesman of the Police Command in Ebonyi, said the incident claimed the lives of a mobile police officer and a member of the gunmen.
Anyanwu said the attack occurred at Presco axis, Abakaliki town at about 9.00 p.m.
The hoodlum attacked police officers on their duty posts.
“Yes, I am aware of the attack on our men.
“One mobile police officer died and one member of the gunmen too,” he said.
Mr Chike Odoh, a resident in the area explained that the two groups engaged themselves in a gun shooting which resulted in the killing of one police officer and a gunman at the scene.
