Anambra Govt. investigates Ejikeme’s JAMB result

The Anambra Government has set up a panel of inquiry into the controversy trailing the highest scorer in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the Commissioner for Education, announced the setting up of the panel in a statement in Awka on Monday.

Chuma-Udeh stated that the government has set up a panel of inquiry to work with security agents and investigate the allegation of falsification of UTME results.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had levelled the allegation of falsification against Mmesoma Ejikeme.

Ejikeme, an indigene of Enugu State, resides in Nnewi, Anambra State and is a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School (AGSS) Nnewi.

She had earlier claimed to have scored 362 as the highest mark in the 2023 UTME.

Celebrating her so-called fit, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, CEO of Innosson Motors awarded N3 million to Ejikeme.

Anambra State Government too was in the process of honouring her when one of its top officials put a call through to JAMB to confirm her claim.

But JAMB revealed that “Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma had actually scored 249 and not the 362 she claimed”.

The commissioner described the controversy on the girl’s actual result as embarrassing, especially coming at a time Gov. Chukwuma Soludo was repositioning the education sector in Anambra.

Meanwhile, the state government has hailed Nkechinyere Umeh, whom JAMB had declared as the highest scorer nationwide with a cumulative mark of 360 in the 2023 UTME.
