Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, says the completion of the multi-billion Great Dutse Water project is uppermost in his mind and that his administration is committed to its realisation.
Namadi made these remarks when a technical team from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources paid him a courtesy visit, on Tuesday, in Dutse.
“We have a target. Dutse as a state capital must have an adequate water supply. And together we are going to make this project a reality, Insha Allah.
“This is a project that is very dear to us as a government and the Jigawa State people.
“We already have the design, the bill of quantity and other documents needed for the project’s execution,” the governor said.
He, therefore, solicited the cooperation of the federal government in fast-tracking the execution of the project.

According to him, the former governor, Dr Sule Lamido, initiated the project but the subsequent government abandoned it.
Earlier, head of the delegation, Mr Abu Hassan, Deputy Director of Urban Water Supply in the ministry commended the state government for its dedication to the realisation of the Project.
Hassan said the team was on a fact-finding mission to gather information on the project. The visit is, therefore, to seek collaboration with the state government’s technical team on this.
“We appreciate the cooperation and support we have received from the Jigawa State government so far.
“The commitment demonstrated by Gov. Namadi aligns with the ministry’s shared goal of providing essential services in critical areas of water supply,” Hassan said.
