Jigawa proposes N44.7B supplementary budget

Jigawa State Government has proposed a supplementary budget of N44.7 billion for 2023 for the state House of Assembly’s approval.

The budget aims to fund critical infrastructure projects and social services within the state.

Babangida Umar, Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, announced the proposal at a press conference after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Dutse on Wednesday.

Umar said the need to complete ongoing projects and the increase in federal allocation to the state due to the removal of fuel subsidies, necessitated this supplementary budget.

He said the state had received N7 billion as the first tranche from the Federal Government.

The state also received N21 billion special grant for infrastructure, which the federal government approved for each state and Abuja.

Ministries of Works/Transport, Health, Education and Finance will receive N13.8 billion, N2 billion, N3 billion and N2.4 billion respectively.
