Zaria (Kaduna), Sept. 8, ’25 (TNZ) Prof. Adamu Ahmed, the Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to mentoring future Nigerian leaders.

TheNewsZenith reports that Ahmed made the declaration during the maiden edition of “Lunch with the Vice Chancellor – An ABU Future Leaders’ Forum,”.

The forum was held on Saturday held as part of the university’s 63rd Anniversary celebrations.

Ahmed emphasized that the program aims to nurture the next generation of leaders for Nigeria, embodying knowledge, character, and responsibility.

According to him, ABU has a legacy of producing quality leaders. Such leaders, he said, have become presidents, vice presidents, state governors, ministers, and renowned professionals in various fields.

The Vice Chancellor welcomed the students to the programme, expressing his pleasure in interacting with them.

He appreciated the guest speaker, Mr Muhtar Bakare, Chairman of Alternative Bank, and Ahmed Zakari & Company, the generous sponsor of the programme, for their contributions to the event.

“We are determined to help you carry the responsibility of leading Nigeria with courage and vision.

“As the African proverb says, ‘The youth can walk faster, but the elders know the road’.

”May today give you both the speed and the direction to lead Nigeria into a greater future,” TheNewsZenith quotes the VC as saying.

The university designed the lunch programme to provide a platform for students to interact with the institution’s management and learn from distinguished guests.

The programme will be held twice yearly, with the aim of producing the next generation of leaders committed to Nigeria’s growth and sustainable development. (TNZ)
