The Kebbi State Government has allocated more than ten hectares of land to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for agriculture development.
Mr Olusegun Ayeoyenikan, NASENI’s Director of Information announced this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
Ayeoyenikan stated that NASENI would use the the land to establish Agricultural Machinery Development Institute (AMEDI).
“This is in line with the Federal Government’s directive to establish AMEDI in each of the six geopolitical zones.
“The Permanent Secretary of Kebbi State Cabinet Office, Alhaji Dahiru Zaki handed over the land documents to the Agency.”
According to him, the land islocated along Birnin Kebbi-Argungu road.
The Permanent Secretary led a delegation of Kebbi State Government officials to the formal handing over event.
According to the statement, the Federal Government had approved that Kebbi host the AMEDI for North-West “because of its vast arable land for rice production and other farm produce”.

NASENI’s Director of Procurement, Dr Mohammed Mohammed, received the documents on behalf of the Agency.
Zaki remarked that
on behalf of Kebbi State people are Zaki expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for citing the Institute in the state.
He said it would accelerate development and create job opportunities for the teeming youths.
The Permanent Secretary added Kebbi is agrarian state and has capacity for rice production and other cash crops.
Speaking on behalf of the CEO of NASENI, Mohammed appreciated Gov. Nasir Idris for allocating the land to agency “at a strategic location in Birnin Kebbi”
tHe said work on the project would begin immediately as NASENI has put all the necessary machinery in place.
