Anambra appoints 21 LG transition committees

Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of transition committee chairmen to manage the operations of 21 Local Government Areas.

TheNewsZenith reports that each of the committees would run the affairs of their respective council for only three months.

The lawmakers confirmed all the nominees at a plenary session after screening them.

Recall that on Wednesday, Gov. Chukwuma Soludo sent the list of nominees to the House for approval.

Of the 21 TC chairmen, Soludo had reappointed eight while 13 were new appointees.

The newly appointed Chairmen are Mr Shedrack Azubuike – Orumba South; Mr Ifeanyi Chiweze -Anambra East; Fidelis Nnazo – Anambra West; Romanus Ibekwe – Anaocha; Chinedu Okafor – Awka South;  Alphonsus Ofumele – Ayamelum; Chijioke Ozumba – Dunukofia and Stanley Nkwoka – Idemili North.

Others are Chinedu Ononi ba – Njikoka; Val Ezeogidi – Nnewi South; Franklin Nwadialu – Ogbaru, Mr. Anthony Nwaora-Onitsha North and Barr. Casimir Nwafor -Orumba North.

The re-appointed Chairmen, Include Dr Chibuike Ofobuike – Aguata; Thankgod Aniagor – Awka North, Mrs Amaka Obi – Idemili South: Emeka Orji -Onitsha South: Anayo Orjiakor- Ihiala; Chris Obiora – Nnewi North; Chimezie Obi – Ekwusigo and Emma Nweke – Oyi.

Dr Somtochukwu Udeze, Speaker of the House of Assembly, presented the governor’s request to the lawmakers. They unanimously voted to adopt the approval.

Udeze also announced the names of councillors who would work with the Chairmen in their various LGAs.

Speaking on behalf of the newly confirmed TC chairmen, Dr Oforbuike of Augusta LGA, thanked the governor for allowing them to serve.

Oforbiike promised that they would live up to their mandate.
