The Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged financial irregularities in several Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
TheNewsZenith reports that HEDA’s Chairman, Olanrewaju Suraju, signed the petition he made available to newsmen in Lagos on Monday.
According to Suraju, the MDAs are violating the Nigeria Financial Regulations, 2009.
He added that they were channelling public funds into personal accounts and conducting dubious transactions.
Those allegations surfaced after an investigative report by The Investigator, an online media outlet, revealed that multiple MDAs had engaged in practices that contravened Chapter 7, Section 713 of the Nigeria Financial Regulations.
The report implicated some MDAs, including the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and some tertiary institutions.
According to the petition, the Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo Isuochi, Abia State, was cited for questionable financial transactions in December 2023.

HEDA alleged that the Polytechnic disbursed substantial funds for office equipment, with payments made to some individuals’ accounts.
These payments were allegedly made in a short time interval, raising suspicions of financial impropriety.
It also indicted the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment. The minister, HEDA alleged, paid large sums to several individuals in 2018 to promote the patronage of made-in-Nigeria products.
The centre further fingered the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, alleging it disbursed N85 million for meeting logistics with stakeholders and camp leaders, alongside other suspicious transactions.
HEDA Resource Centre, known for its commitment to public accountability and transparency, expressed concern over the integrity of the civil service and the federation at large.
It stressed the need for stricter oversight and enforcement to curb corruption in the public sector
