Customs Zone “A” decorates 39 comptrollers, 67 dep.-comptrollers

Ikeja, Jan. 23, ’25 (TNZ) The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on Thursday, decorated 106 newly promoted officers with their new rank insignia of office in Lagos.

TheNewsZenith reports that the decorated officers comprised 39 Comptrollers and 67 Deputy Comptrollers of Customs.

Assistant Comptroller General, Charles Orbih, Zone “A” Coordinator of the NCS, spoke on the essence of the promotion exercise.

Orbih urged the newly promoted officers to prioritise revenue collection, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling efforts.

He commended the Comptroller-General, Bashir Adeniyi, for recognising and rewarding hardworking and brilliant officers.

The coordinator said the officers demonstrated proficiency in embracing modern customs procedures and ensuring exhibition of high standards.

“Your commitment to continuous learning and adaptation will contribute towards achieving the vision of an efficient customs service.

“Moving forward, these promotions carried the weight of great responsibilities, aligning with our core values of integrity and professionalism.

“Our newly promoted officers must continue to uphold the highest standards in service delivery and ethical conduct.

“Much more is expected of you by the NCS because of this promotion bestowed upon you today,” TheNewsZenith quotes Orbih as advising the officers.

He reminded them of the three transformative pillars guiding the Service.

These are consolidating automation processes, enhancing digital infrastructure and collaborating with stakeholders and sister agencies to improve trade facilitation.

In a goodwill message, Mrs Jean Adapoyi, a Deputy Controller with the Nigerian Immigration Service, who represented her coordinator, congratulated the promoted officers.

Adapoyi urged them to put more effort into their new roles.

The National Vice President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Mr Segun Oduntan, conveyed a goodwill message from the National President to the newly promoted officers.

Oduntan pledged that ANLCA would continue working with Nigeria Customs to improve its revenue drive.

He emphasised the importance of the NCS engaging meaningfully with relevant stakeholders. (TNZ)
