Eburu celebrates 5th Oriki Yoruba Cultural Festival

All roads lead to the ancient town of Ibaland in Ifelodun local government area of Osun state as the Eburu of Ibaland, Oba Prof. Adekunle Adeogun Oyedeji 11 celebrates the fifth edition of the Oriki Yoruba Cultural  Festival.

TheNewsZenith reports that the festival is coming under the auspices of Eburu Adekunle Yoruba Cultural Renaissance.

Mr Fatai Adiyeloja, the Chairman of the festival’s Organising Committee said in a statement on Sunday. According to him, the festival first debuted in 2020.

According to the statement, since 2020, Oba Adekunle Adeogun has resolved to mobilise human and material resources to put Ibaland on the global map.

This is by unearthing, promoting and sustaining the age-long history, tradition and culture of the Yoruba race.

As the chief custodian of tradition, the royal father uses the hitherto popular but fast-disappearing Oriki Yoruba as the flagship.

“On an annual basis, culture connoisseurs, historians, frontline academics, traditional rulers thespians, seasoned and budding poets/chanters and newsmen converge in Iba to showcase the enviable Yoruba culture.

Beyond artistic expression, Adiyeloja stated that the Oriki Yoruba has been beaming its searchlight on Ibaland’s tourist potential.

“This year’s celebration is in keeping with tradition.

“It will begin with Mountaineering Day on Friday, Dec. 13,” TheNewsZenith quotes from the statement.

The Royal  Majesty Eburu looks forward to hosting guests and corporate organisations to the warm hospitality of Iba indigenes.

Prof. Olukoya Ogen, the Director of the UNESCO-UNIOSUN Project on Cultural Diversity and Director of Innovation Management at Osun State University will deliver the yearly lecture on Dec. 14 at Iyaniwura Palace.
