EKSG directs workers to clean office ahead monthly sanitation

The Ekiti State Government has directed it’s civil servants to clean their offices and surroundings before the close of work on Friday.

This is prelude to the January edition of the State Monthly Environmental Sanitation on Saturday.

Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Chief (Mrs) Tosin Aluko Ajisafe, said in a statement that all government employees are urged to clean their offices and surroundings before the close of work on Friday.

”The theme for this month’s environmental sanitisation exercise is
Clean Environment Prolongs Life, Make Sanitation A Habit,” Ajisafẹ stated.

She urged everyone to tidy up their surroundings.

Vehicular and human movement, she added, would be restricted during the
exercise throughout the state, except for people on official responsibilities, essential duties and services.

The commissioner also advised residents and business owners to properly dispose their wastes and clear the drainage systems in front of their structures.

She cautioned all market men and women to take advantage of the occasion to clean their stores and booths and ensure proper disposal of refuse.

Ajisafe reminded shops and business owners that all business premises
remain closed till 10.00 a.m.

She stressed that Environmental Health Officers from the
State and Local Government,
NGO’s and Security agencies would be present to oversee and ensure
compliance across the State while the exercise last.

The commissioner warned against violation of the Environmental
Sanitation Laws.

”Mobil Courts will be operational throughout the state for the prosecution of violators,” she said.

Ajisafe urged the residents to maintain a clean and tidy environment during this dry season.
