Electoral violence: Police raid black spots in Ebonyi

The Police Command in Ebonyi say they have started raiding black spots as part of efforts to tackle related electoral violence during the general polls in the state.

Mr Falaye Olaleye, Commissioner for Police in the state, announced this to newsmen on Friday in Abakaliki.

Olaleye said that the raid was in addition to the regular deployment of personnel across communities.

According to him, the command has also started ‘operation show of force’ as “we have posted officers to identified flashpoints in the state”.

He assured maximum security for the citizens and urged them to come out to exercise their franchise.

“We have identified camps of criminals who vowed that there will not be elections.

“The command has engaged all stakeholders such as youths, artisans and candidates.

“We pray that the elections will be free and fair and credible,” the Commissioner said.

He warned non-members of the security agencies to stay off the polling units or election processes.

“I want to use this medium to warn troublemakers to steer clear and allow those, that are willing to vote, to come out to cast their votes.

“For you, troublemakers, the long arm of the law will catch up with you,” he warned.
