A Non-Governmental Organisation, the “Connecting with Vulnerable Deltans through Traditional and Modern Media Channels” initiative (CVDTMC), has extended its humanitarian efforts to inmates of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Okuama, Delta State.
TheNewsZenith reports that Amb. Ese Joshua Emadifie, the Director General of the CVDTMC, who visited the camp at Ewu-Urhobo, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state donated educational materials and some confectioneries.
Emadifie, who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media, said he visited the camp to interact with the people and sympathise with them.
“We understand your pains and needs and we will relay your challenges to the governor.
“Our mission is not only to provide educational items but also to empower women through skill acquisition programmes.
“This is in alignment with the MORE Agenda of our Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori,” he explained.
“We are here to emulate the governor. Everything we do here today reflects who Gov. Oborevwori is.
“The items we presented, the empowerment initiatives and the notebooks are all from him.”
He also took a moment to speak glowingly about the potential of the youths in the camp.
“There are certain things people take for granted. But I believe that some of the children here have the potential to, one day, represent Nigeria in sports.”
Speaking on the goals of his initiative, he said the objective is to reach out to the less privileged in the three senatorial districts.

Receiving the items on behalf of the camp, Okuama-Ewu IDP Camp Chairman, Mr Abraham Ogbodo, commended the CVDTMC for the kind gesture.
Ogbodo said the gesture reflected the idea that humanity transcends race, ethnicity, religion and geography.
“When people are in tragic circumstances, the world ought to unite to help them because tragedy is felt the same way across the board,” he said.
Ogbodo, who is also a former editor of The Guardian Newspaper, noted that when situations like this arise, “the strong should leverage their strength to help the weak”.
He thanked the governor’s aide for the assistance.
“The ultimate goal is to get our people back to their ancestral homesteads. Although it is not an automatic process, we believe the government is working on it.”
