FG inaugurates 10 NIPOST operational vehicles

The Federal Government has procured ten operational vehicles for the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) to boost mail and other services deliveries.

Communication and Digital Economy Minister, Prof Isa Pantami, unveiling the vehicles in Abuja on Friday.

Pantami said this indicates that NIPOST “is on the part of transformation”.

He said the ministry bought the vehicles from the internally generated revenue of NIPOST and “not with Federal Government’s allocation”.

Earlier, the Postmaster-General of the Federation, Mr Sunday Adepoju, said the development would impact the country’s digital economy significantly.

With the vehicles, Adepoju explained that NIPOST would compete favourably in the Nation’s electronic communication, e-commerce, logistics and courier industry.

He added that NIPOST, under his watch, would continue to initiate innovations to improved service delivery.

“We will strive to restore public confidence in the ability of the organisation to meet their expectations.

“Today, we are witnessing another practical demonstration of that commitment with the commissioning of 10 new JAC TRUCKS of 3/4 tons each for the coverage of National Mail Routes.

“The provision of these vehicles is a significant milestone in the current efforts of NIPOST management to reposition the organisation to meet the needs of the contemporary customer.

“Effective and efficient National Mail Routes will help put Nigeria on a proper pedestal within global postal administrations,” he stated.
