Lagos, Oct. 27, ’25 (TNZ) The African Coaches Connect have attributed Morocco’s U-20 male team’s success at the recent World Cup in Chile to good planning and adequate budgetary allocation.
TheNewsZenith reports that the Atlas Cubs of Morocco defeated Argentina 2-0 to win the FIFA U-20 men’s World Cup concluded in Chile on Sunday.
With the win, Morocco become the second African country to win it, after Ghana won it in 2009.
Coach Eldred Sunju Abbey, President, African Coaches Connect, made the remarks while reflecting on the competition on Monday in Abuja.
Abbey said that the Moroccan football federation sowed the seed of their success in 2009.
“This is the reward when actual planning, direct physical purpose and budgetary allocation are put in the right purpose.
”In 2009, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation led by Fouzi Lekjaa, decided to start developing football.
“They built the Mohammed the VI Stadium and began a football academy. You can see the reward in the last FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the recent U-20 victory in Chile,’’ TheNewsZenith quotes him as saying.

According to Abbey, the future is bright for Morocco and Africa if all concern could step in this direction and begin to develop football.
He said the bulk of the Moroccan U-20 winning team are products of the football academy, stressing the need for other African countries to emulate Morocco to achieve good results.
The coaches’ president said: “We need to do this to improve the standard of the game, to make a good impact at the World Cup like Morocco.
“The African football convention being powered by the African Coaches Connect will take place in Casablanca, Morocco, from Dec. 23 to Dec. 28. 2025.
“Football professionals, administrators, club owners and sports ministers will meet to think about the way forward for the game in the continent.
“The African Coaches Connect is a global hub for all football professionals.
”Their aim is to make football thrive as a high earning industry in the continent. (TNZ)
