Foundation offers free medical outreach to 1000 patients

Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF) provided free medical treatment for about 1000 indigenous patients of Ekwusigo Local Government in Anambra State on Monday.

TheNewsZenith reports that the medical outreach offered free cardiovascular evaluation, eye checks, free eyeglasses, walkers and open heart surgeries.

SEOF conducted the medical outreach in partnership with Vincent Obiama Ohaju Memorial (VOOM) Foundation.

Executive Director of SEOF, Mrs Chidimma Okoye, told newsmen, on Monday, that the outreach successfully carried out free open heart surgeries on 29 children.

Also, 15 adults received open heart surgery operations at subsidised bills.

According to Okoye, the medical outreach, which started in September, had 82 foreign medical volunteers. The volunteers performed the surgeries and treated other ailments.

“We carried out free open heart surgeries successfully on 29 children while over 15 adults received subsidised bills for the open heart surgeries performed on them.

“These international medical volunteers also operated some adults, who could still not afford the subsidised bill.

“The foundation also partnered with Immaculate Heart Eye Clinic, Nkpor, in terms of manpower to attend to people with eye defects,” she said.

Also speaking, Ms Shawn Andaya-Pulliam, Executive Director of the VOOM Foundation, USA, said they were dedicated to improving the healthcare services in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ukamaka Onuigbo, commended the foundation for the kind gesture.

Onuigbo called other organisations to help the needy in the society.
