Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South Senatorial District, has donated N10 million to traders who suffered loses in a fire incident at the a market in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
TheNewsZenith reports that Sen. Ibrahim visited the scene of the fire incident on Thursday, accompanied by some traditional rulers in the district to assess the level of damage.
He sympathised with the affected traders urging them to take solace in the fact no life was lost in the inferno.
TheNewsZenith gathered that a midnight fire engulfed the market on Dec. 12, razing no fewer than 18 shops that were stocked with frozen foods and other goods worth several millions of Naira.
The Senator also promised to drill a solar-powered borehole and install solar-powered lamps at the market.
“I want to express my sympathy to you for the loss of your stalls and shops.
“I learnt that you would have been able to put out the fire if there had been water here.

“To prevent the recurrence of this development, I will come and sink a borehole here for you.
“I will also light up the market with solar lamps. We will install it soon,” TheNEwsZenith quoted the Federal Lawmaker as saying.
He said he had seen the level of destruction and the losses recorded by the affected shop owners.
“I am donating N10 million to you so that you can use it to purchase goods,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the traders, Chief Mrs Florence Irinyemi, the Iyalaje of the market, thanked the senator for taking the time to visit the market.
