The Kano State Government has approved the construction of two road interchanges to decongest the ever-busy junctions and facilitate easy traffic flow.

Information Commissioner, Baba Halilu Dantiye, announced this in a statement e-mailed to TheNewsZenith at the weekend.
Dantiye stated that the State Executive Council, at its recent sitting, approved the construction of the interchanges.
The interchanges are located at Dan Agundi along BUK road and Tal’udu junction both in Kano metropolis.
The interchanges, the commissioner stated, would boost business and commercial activities, and facilitate the state’s general economic growth.
According to him, the government has awarded the construction of the interchange to Messrs CGC Nigeria Limited for N15.97 billion.
Both the state and local governments will jointly finance the projects.
“The state government assures the general public of timely execution of the two projects. It will also initiate more public-oriented ones in both rural and urban areas.
“This is in fulfilment of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf’s campaign promises.

“The government advised motorists plying the affected roads to use alternative routes.
“They should bear with the government for the temporary inconvenience the construction might cause them,” the statement read in part.
The state government has, however, expressed concern about attempts by some dissatisfied individuals to discredit its well-intentioned effort at executing these projects.
“The insinuation that the siting of the projects is inappropriate and the funding arrangement unfair is a clear indication that such individuals lack the knowledge of the inner workings and operations of the government.
“It is on record that previous administrations had undertaken projects through similar state and local governments’ joint financing arrangements.
“Hence, these particular projects, in all fairness, should not be seen or misconstrued as different in any context.
“This administration has resolved and is committed to initiating, planning and implementing appropriate programmes, policies and projects that will ensure even development in urban and rural areas.
