Kwara United’s 1-0 loss to Gombe United, huge setback – coach

Kwara United, Coach Kabiru Dogo, has described his team’s 1-0 away defeat to Gombe United as a huge setback for its efforts at advancing on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Group A log.

Dogo lament the defeat after the team’s NPFL Match Day 11 fixture encounter with Gombe United, played at the Pantami Stadium Gombe on Wednesday.

According to him, the match is a good game in spite of the defeat suffered by his side by a lone goal.

He said the loss, coming at a time his side was beginning to pick points on NPFL log, was disappointing.

This is especially as his side came to Gombe to pick the full points.

“It’s a huge setback for us because we werd targeting three points.

“We have accepted it in good faith and we will go to  drawing board and work towards our next match.

“We had planned to get three points. That was our target, not just to survive but to make it to the top.

“And to make it to the top, every point is important.

“Losing this point is a setback for us but it is one of those things in football,” he said.

On his part, Aliyu Zubairu, the Technical Adviser of Gombe United, said he was delighted at the outcome of the match.

The maximum points would enable Gombe United advance on the log, he said.

Zubairu said the match was difficult because his team was returning from the election break.

The fact that the visitors are in their good forms under the new coach, motivated them.

“The match is not easy at all, considering the fact that general election delayed us.

“We struggled all through the second half but all the same, it is a step ahead for us,” Zubairu said.

The technical adviser said his priority, for now, was to stabilise his team as they progress in the league.

“What we are looking for now is to get stability.

“The points we lost at home, we have been able to regain three,” he said.
