The Lagos State Government has re-emphasised the importance of good sanitation practices amongst all residents to ensure a clean, flood free, safe and sustainable environment.

Mr Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, made the remarks during the weekly community based environmental sanitation advocacy, on Sunday, at Bariga LCDA.

TheNewsZenith quotes Wahab as charging residents to “make good sanitation practices a daily affair”.

He said the state government introduced the weekly advocacy to promote good sanitation practices.

This is ahead of the formal commencement of the monthly Sanitation Exercise.

“We are trying to ramp up sensitisation and advocacy before the formal commencement of the monthly environmental sanitation.

“Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu will soon be announce the repackaged monthly sanitation exercise,” the commissioner said.

He said relevant government agencies have investigated and found that some houses in Bariga area channelled their septic tanks into the drainages.

This, Wahab said is unhygienic and that government would seal such houses by the appropriate agency.
