The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Lagos State Area Unit has expressed delight as Nigeria came second in the Grand Finale of the Al-Fourqane International Qur’an Competition in Abidjan, Cote de Voire.
TheNewsZenith reports that MSSN, representing Nigeria, trailed behind Cote de Voire, the host country and winner of the competition. Mali won the third place.
The student body achieved this feat following an excellent performance by its representative, AbdulQodri Atukale.
Atukale is a 300L undergraduate of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos.
Reacting to the achievement, the Amir (President) of MSSN Lagos, Kamoldeen Abiona expressed joy at the excellent fit recorded at the international outing.
Abiona remarked that the achievement reflects the dedication, skill and unwavering commitment of MSSN members to the Holy Qur’an. He led the Nigerian contingent to Abidjan.
“We’re excited about this achievement. As we celebrate this victory, we promise that MSSN Lagos will do better in subsequent international Qur’an competitions,” he said.

He charged members of MSSN across Nigeria to keep striving for excellence in all their endeavours.
TheNewsZenith reports that the week-long Qur’anic Competition took place from Aug. 10 to Aug. 17.
It featured participants from around the globe, showcasing their dedication to the Holy Qur’an.
According to the organisers, the 2024 contest marks the second edition of the competition.
The international Quran reading competition attracted contingents from Guinée, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Togo, Ghana, Niger, Bénin and Comores.
One of the modalities of participation required that the candidate must have memorised the entire Quran (Hafiz). Participants must not exceed 25 years of age.
