The Oyo State Government, on Monday, distributed farm inputs and agricultural assets to farmers in Six local government areas of Oyo State.
TheNewsZenith reports that the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye supervised the distribution.
Olaleye said the flag-off of the distribution, in Ibarapa zone “is part of the ongoing Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery programme (SAfER).
He said the state government is committed to enhancing quality and increasing farm produce, to boost its food security.
Unveiling the distribution at Saki West Local Government, Olaleye who doubles as Chairman of Food Security under SAfER, said 2537 farmers across the zone will benefit from the fourth phase of the initiative.
Mr Olusegun Ezekiel, the Director of Regulation and Enforcement, represented the commissioner at the ceremony.
He said the distribution is ongoing simultaneously in all the six local Governments in Oke Ogun. These include ATISBO, Saki West, Oorelope, Kajola, Iwajowa and Itesiwaju.
Oladunkanmi noted that the move was part of the state government plan to cushion the effect of subsidy removal.

He added that beneficiaries would go home with herbicides and a snap-sack sprayer tank. Other inputes include 16kg hybrid maize seedlings, insecticide and 20 bundles of improved cassava stems.
According to him, about 766 arable farmers would receive inputs in the six local governments in Oke Ogun.
The commissioner further said that that the fifth phase of the SAfER scheme in the food sector,would include free vaccination for cattle, distribution of feeds for goat and sheep farmers.
There will also be subsidy on the use of tractors for farmers. This will begin soon.
In their separate remarks, the Baale Agbe ATISBO and Oorelope, Mr Daniel Oketola and Mr Oladunni Isaiah commended the Gov. Seyi Makinde for bringing giving succour to the farmers.
