Mutairu noted that strengthening family ties is not merely a social responsibility. According to him, it is an act of worship that brings immense reward from Allah.

“It nurtures love, removes hatred, strengthens compassion, and ultimately fosters unity within the Muslim Ummah.

“The family is the first institution where values, faith, discipline, and moral character are nurtured.

“When families are strong, societies become stable; and when societies are stable, the Ummah becomes united and resilient.

“Allah reminds us in the Noble Qur’an: “Fear Allah through whom you ask one another, and respect the ties of kinship.”
(Qur’an 4:1)

“This verse clearly highlights the sacredness of family ties and the responsibility of every Muslim to maintain and protect them.

“Our beloved Prophet Prophet Muhammad also emphasized the importance of maintaining relationships with relatives. He said:

“Whoever wishes that his provision be increased and his life extended, let him maintain ties of kinship.” (Reported in authentic collections),” TheNewsZenith quotes Mutairu as saying.

The TMC Head lamented that many families, in our contemporary society, were experiencing division due to misunderstandings, pride, and neglect of Islamic teachings.

“Gatherings like this, therefore, serve as an important reminder that reconnecting with our relatives, honoring our parents, and nurturing our family bonds are essential steps toward building a stronger and more united Ummah.

When families reconcile, communities flourish. And when communities flourish, the Ummah becomes stronger, more united, and more resilient.

TheNewsZenith reports that Sheikh Muhammad Shuaib, Director of AFEMAI Institute, who was the guest lecturer at the occasion, stretched the importance of family ties. He noted that no misunderstanding should be strong enough to severe blood relationship.

“We should maintain the love of that family ties. To Islam or any other religion, for someone to feel that he has broken tie with his family, it means the person has completely missed the message of Islam.

“You cannot be a true Muslim and you cannot gain the mercy of Allah if you brake ties with your family,” TheNewsZenith quotes Sheikh Shuaib as saying. (TNZ)
