TMC rounds off 4-day training, urged youths to resist pressure

From Abdulfatah Babatunde

Odosengolu (Ogun), Jan. 4, ’26 (TNZ) The Muslim Congress (TMC), Nigeria’s foremost faith-based organisation, on Sunday, challenged Muslim youth to resist the moral pressures of the digital revolution, but uphold values that are pleasing to Allah.

Sheikh Hammid Yusuf Aderemi, the Chief Imam, Fidiso Central Mosque, Abijo, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, gave the advice in a lecture at the TMC’s 32nd National Islamic Training Programme (NITP), which ended on Sunday.

TheNewsZenith reports that the four-day training programme is an annual event that draws Muslim youths from various parts of the country, held in four locations. These are Odosengolu in Ogun State, Oyo Town in Oyo State, Abuja in FCT, and Benin in Edo State.

In his lecture during the closing of the training at Vanguard Academy, Odosengolu, Sheikh Aderemi referenced the era of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), when people turned away from the worship of Allah, placing their trust in idols, relying on false gods to manage their affairs.

He also drew lessons from the era of Prophet Musa (AS) by explaining how Pharaoh used oppression and manipulation to divert people from worshipping Allah, by falsely claiming divinity.

The Cleric likened such historical deception to contemporary ideologies, which, according to him, promote immorality and distract humanity from divine guidance.

TheNewsZenith further reports that the theme of the 32nd NITP is ” Guidance and Direction for Today’s Muslims”

Addressing the delegates earlier, the Amir (President) of the organisation, Alhaji Taiwo AbdulWasii Bangbala, expressed appreciation to the delegates for maintaining the highest standard of decorum during the camping.

Bangbala, who secured a second five-year leadership tenure, urged them to imbibe the teachings from various lectures and other activities in their daily lives.

Abdul Sabur Adebayo from Ondo state came first, Ukba Abdulhakeem from Ogun came second, while Saheed AbduRahman from Lagos came third.
