Thousands of Muslims across the strata of the society converged in Abeokuta at the weekend for the 17th Annual State Lecture of The Muslim Congress (TMC).
TheNewsZenith reports that the lecture’s theme was “Building of Great Nation: Collective Responsibility of the Leader and the Led”.
Our correspondent reports that top government functionaries, private sector operators, civil servants, traders and artisans trooped out for the event.
In his welcome address, the Amir (National President) of the TMC, Alhaji Taiwo Bangbala, remarked that the annual event is a forum created to share views, ideas and positions.
Chairman (Waali) of TMC in Ogun State, Dr AbdulRazaq Ogunmoye, represented the National President at the occasion.
The Amir challenged the world leaders to stand up with the Palestinians against Israeli aggression.
At the annual event, Bangbala said the lecture was meant to guide the nation toward progress and prosperity.
“Nigeria’s 64th Independent Anniversary is a significant milestone, presenting a unique opportunity to acknowledge our journey as a nation.
“It is also a period to retrospectively examine our current challenges and contemplate the responsibilities that lie ahead,” TheNewsZenith quotes Ogunmoye as saying.
He remarked that the theme of this year’s lecture resonates deeply with the trials we currently face as a nation.
“Amidst the dire economic circumstances, it is crucial to recognise that the struggles are not mere statistical figures but represent tangible hardship.
“Millions of Nigerians face palpable suffering, with families struggling daily to meet some necessities.”
