The Lagos Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says its vehicle, involved in an accident in Abuja on Friday, was not carrying election materials.
The NewsZenith reports that the media was awash in the earlier hours of Saturday that the NSCDC pick-up van was carrying election materials, contrary to reports in the media.
But the Command’s spokesman, DSC Oluwaseun Abolurin, debunked the report when he spoke to newsmen on Saturday, in Lagos.
Abolurin said that the accident happened at the Giri Roundabout Bridge in Abuja.
He confirmed that one officer died, while a few others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The PRO, however, did not mention the number of persons injured.
He said the injured were rushed to the hospital.
“The vehicle belongs to NSCDC Lagos Command. It was carrying some operatives and not election materials as is being speculated.
“One person died in the accident and others were injured,” he said.
