Various security agencies have deployed no fewer than 40,000 operatives to ensure hitch-fee polls during the Nov. 11 governorship election in Kogi State.

The head of the security committee, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Habu Sani, announced this at a press conference, on Thursday, in Lokoja.

Sani, from the Intelligence Department, Force headquarters, Abuja, said the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, “is not sleeping over his mandate”.

“The IGP is working round to ensure the election is devoid of any crisis,” the DIG said.

He added that all security agencies would effectively carry out such a mandate.

He confirmed that 40,000 operatives from all security agencies have been deployed for the poll.

According to him, security personnel from other states have arrived in Lokoja. Others are on their way to their areas of deployment of the time of this press conference, he added.

“Having considered various security threats, we have carried out the deployment professionally to cover these areas to avert any foreseen threat.
