The Independent National Electoral Commission says it has deployed more staff to Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collection centres in all wards in Enugu State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr Chukwuemeka Chukwu, disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday in Enugu.
Chukwosaid it was imperative that more hands be deployed to wards and council areas, especially those with large numbers of uncollected PVCs.
“INEC mapped out a programme from Jan. 6 to Jan. 16 for people to collect their PVCs at the wards level.
“But when the commission saw the surge in the collection, it extended the date at that level to Jan. 22.
“On our review, we found out that some of the ward and local governments have quite a number of uncollected PVCs.

“So, we deployed more staff in those areas to help in the issuance of the cards to the rightful owners.
“At INEC, we are doing our best to see that the people of Enugu State collect their PVCs,” he said.
The REC noted that the commission would continue to ensure hitch-free and stress-free collection of PVCs in the state.
The NewsZenith reports that in line with the INEC timetable, the Presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on Feb. 25.
The Governorship and State House of Assembly elections will be conducted on March 11.
