The Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Area Command says it has seized fake $6 million and other prohibited items.
The Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, announced this at a press briefing in Seme, on Thursday in Lagos.
Nnadi also disclosed that four suspected members of cross border criminal syndicate were arrested.
He said the command had recorded milestones in the last 13 days in its anti-smuggling operations.
“Some of the anti-smuggling landmarks by the command include the seizure of fake $6m equivalent of N2.763 billion,” he said.
According to him, men of Customs also arrested two suspects conveying the fake currency from Nigeria to the Republic of Benin.
“The male suspect are currently in our custody pending prosecution.

“We made the arrest at Gbaji checkpoint along the Seme corridor on Jan.31.
“Also, on the same day, at a about 5.30 a.m., our men on patrol along Gbethrome base, intercepted six Maltese International Passports.”
He said all the passports carry the same picture of a lady but bearing different names.
Nnadi added that they also recovered various international passports of West African countries.
Also seized were 1O international driving licences of various countries from two male suspects currently in custody for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the command seized 1,300pieces of 30-litre Jerry can of petroleum equivalent to 39,000 litres with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of about N9.37 million.
According to the controller, men of the command seized the products along the creeks.
“Other items seized include 55 sacks containing 550 pieces of donkey skin with DPV of over N11,37 millon.
