A dormitory fire killed at least three schoolgirls and injured 29 others, on Wednesday in Tanzania’s northern region of Shinyanga, the Police said.
Janeth Magomi, the Shinyanga Regional Police Commander, confirmed the incident.
Magomi said the fire razed a dormitory at Buhangija primary school in the Shinyanga municipality.
“The fire killed three girls and injured 29 others.

“Fire gutted the dormitory at around 11.00 p.m. local time when the girls were asleep,” said Magomi.
In September 2020, 11 pupils died and injured seven others in a similar incident when a fire burnt a dormitory to ashes at a primary school in Tanzania’s northwest region of Kagera. (Xinhua)
