FG earmarks N95bn for dams, road rehabilitation in Kano

President Bola Ahmad Tinubu has approved N95 billion for the the construction of the Kano Eastern Bypass Road and rehabilitation of 16 dams in Kano State.

TheNewsZenith reports that the bypass road will connect the southern region of the city while the dams will boost irrigation farming in the state.

The Executive Director of Finance of the Hadejia River Basin Development Authority, Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, announced this in a ststement in Kano.

According to him, the federal government inaugurated a technical committee to evaluate the dams.

”The technical committee will evaluate the Challawa Gorge Dam and Tiga Dam, among others.

”The dams, upon completion of their rehabilitation, will enhance irrigation and improve agricultural productivity.

”This aligns with the efforts of the Agriculture Minister, Joseph Utsev’s move to maximise these facilities in Kano,” Kwankwazo said.

He pointed out that Sen. Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South Senatorial district facilitated the appropriation of N95 billion projects.

”This underscores the commendable efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

”The kickoff of the North West Development Commission, driven by the support and insistence of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin.

”The projects will also bring prosperity to the region.

”It is a ddemonstration of the administration’s dedication to the Kano people and the North West in general,” TheNewsZenith quotes the statement as reading in part.

Kwankwazo pledged that his appointment as Director has ”energised our collective desire to strive for the delivery of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.

”This is a demonstation of a clear path for Mr President in Kano and the North by 2027”.

He also extended his appreciation to the National Chairman of the APC, Dr Abdullah Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Barau and other well-wishers for their support.

”Our appointment at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority is an honor for the Kano people and members of the All Progressives Congress.

”It reflects the President’s positive vision for our state and the nation at large,” Kwankwaso stated.

He also highlighted the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.

”The Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration is determined to complete the Kano to Kaduna and Abuja expressway.

”The government is also working to deliver the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline project, slated for completion in 2025.

”All these further underscore the President’s genuine commitment to Kano and the North,” he assured.
