FRSC tasks firms to key into its RTSSS Scheme

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has urged companies and institutions owning large vehicles fleet to key into its Road Transport Safety Standardisation Scheme (RTSSS).

TheNewsZenith gathered that FRSC designed RTSSS, specifically for big companies to ensure safer motoring.

The FRSC Unit Commander in Ojota, Mr Spence Olakunjo, gave the advice when he received a management team from Nehemiah Grace Developers Ltd. (NGDL) his office, on Thursday, Lagos.

Olakunle commended the motoring public for cooperating with FRSC towards achieving a significant reduction in road accidents on Nigerian highways.

According the Asst. Corps Commander, these companies and institutions should synergise with the FRSC in providing  effective training of their drivers.

”This is apt, to avoid unnecessary loss of lives, it will also assist to secure their huge investments in their vehicle acquisition,” Olakunle said.

The Head of the NGDL delegation, ACP Tunde Sunmonu (retired), expressed the company’s acknowledgement of the important role the FRSC is playing in the management of the nation’s numerous roads for sanity.

Sunmoni, who is the company’s Group General Manager (Services) added that FRSC’s national relevance could not be over-emphasized.

According to him, the NGDL desires to consolidate its relationship with the FRSC for purposes of mutual benefits.

This is, especially, as a construction firm, which operates an appreciable fleet of vehicles and employing many drivers.

He said the company would count on FRSC’s assistance at periodic intervals, to help train its drivers and transport officials.

Such trading, he said would be on road applications, vehicle maintenance, regularisation of vehicle particulars and other operational tools.

This is with the overall aim of improving their performances and ensuring good usage of the highways.

Sunmonu thanked the agency for past assistance and understanding its men were showing the NGDL’s drivers on the road.

Other members of the visiting management team comprised: Mr Celsus Ohain, General Manager, (Admin and Corporate Communications) and Mrs Bimpe Shodeinde (Transport Manager) and Mrs Dora Ogbu (PRO).
