Group urges Nigerians to vote wisely

The Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC) has enjoined Nigerians to vote wisely, irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliations, in the general elections starting next Saturday.

The council gave the advice in a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde and e-mailed to The NewsZenith.

“Do not get discourage byd or disenfranchised because of the present hardship from the new monetary policy.

It admonished people of Ogun State to troop out en-mass on Saturday to exercise their franchise as patriotic citizens.

Akintunde stated that the appeal became necessary amidst the socio-economic challenges facing Nigerians over the currency swap and fuel scarcity.

The group urged Nigerians to consider the experience as necessary sacrifice to engender electoral system, free of influence and inducement.

It opined that Nigerian democracy has ripened as it has migrated from being nascent to advanced self-rule.

“Hence, the present government action can, therefore, be said to be justifiable in order to build enduring trust and sanity into our electoral system.

It implored President Muhammadu Buhari to evolve an initiative to ameliorate the suffering of Nigerians.
