Gunmen on Saturday morning intercepted a commercial bus on the fleet of the GOU Transport Company, killed the driver and kidnapped all 18 passengers in the bus on the Shagamu-Benin Expressway.
TheNewsZenith gathered that the hoodlums killed the driver as he was about to make a U-turn on sighting them.
The incident caused pandemonium as travellers had to park their vehicles to catch a glimpse of the bus.
The bus got stuck in the bush by the roadside with all its passengers led into the bush by the hoodlums.
It was not until a sympathiser opened the door of the bus on the driver’s side that people discovered the driver had been shot dead.
Thereafter, they led the passengers into the bush, leaving behind, a teenage girl who was travelling with both her father and mother.
A sympathiser in another bus narrated how the GOU bus and other vehicles had stopped over in Ore to eat.
After eating, they continued the journey towards Benin before the incident happened on the outskirts of Ore, Odigbo Local Government of Ondo State.
TheNewsZenith noticed some security operatives at the scene of the incident interrogating the little girl whose parents were also kidnapped.
As of the time of filing this report, it is not clear if the Police have made any arrests in connection with the kidnapping.
