KNSG mourns Ex-Speaker, Na’abba

Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has commiserated with the family and entire people of the state over the death of the former Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Umar Na’Abba.

TheNewsZenith reports that the former Speaker passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.
In a condolence message, the governor described the late Na’Abba as a true Democrat.
“He worked relentlessly to ensure the thriving of democracy, good governance and respect for the rule of law. He also champions the course of the common man.
“We received with deepest shock, the death of our brother Rt. Hon. Ghali Umar Na’Abba, the former Speaker, in the wee hours of today. He died at the age of 65.
“He was a complete gentleman, a true democrat. Nigerians cherish and appreciate his contributions to the sustenance of democracy in the country.”
Gov. Yusuf added that Na’Abba’s death had created a vacuum, difficult to fill in the extended Na’Abba family, Kano State and the entire country.

“His contributions to strengthening democracy in Nigeria and beyond would continue to be remembered and commended.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Kano State, we wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, political associates, national assembly and good people of Kano.
“May the  Almighty Allah grant his soul eternal rest, Jannatul Firdausi be his final abode and may HE give the family fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Yusuf prayed.
TheNewsZenith reports that the late Na’Abba was the second Speaker of the House of Representatives in the current 4th Republic.
He was elected Member of the House of Representatives in 1999 from Kano State.
Na’Abba became the Speaker a few months after the inauguration of the House, following the resignation of the then Speaker, Salisu Buhari, from the same Kano State, over a certificate forgery scandal.
