A Non-Governmental Organisation, Agbeladun, has offered to partner with relevant stakeholders to boost food production and ensure sufficiency in Ondo State.

Chairman of the NGO, Olusola Fadoju said at a meeting with some farmers in Akure, on Thursday, that activities of the organisation are geared towards complementing the Ondo State Agricultural Commodities Associations (OSACA).

“This is to empower and support farmers in the agricultural value chain in the state,” Fadoju said.

He called on interested individuals, especially People With Disabilities (PWDs) to join Agbeladun, to tap from the opportunities available to members.

“This will also enhance food production and sufficiency. It will, in turn, reduce the present hardship in the state and the nation at large.”

In an interview with newsmen, Fadoju described PWDs as the most vulnerable group, who should benefit from the initiative.

“There are many social values among the disabled,  so we want to assist them in agriculture.

“Albinos can go into Tomato production and we will assist them through training and grants. These will enable them to contribute to agricultural development.

“We plan to assist them in what they are doing. Part of whatever is gotten in terms of grains shall be used to empower them.

“We have worked with Fadama and are still working with other relevant groups in the agricultural value chain,’ the chairman said.
