NRC to tackle ticket racketeering on Abuja-Kaduna corridor

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) will address ticket racketeering at the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS), TheNewsZenith quotes from an official statement.

Yakub Mahmood, the corporation’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) gave this assurance in a statement, on Saturday, in Lagos.

He stated that the management was aware of passengers’ difficulties in obtaining tickets online.

“Information has reached the management of the NRC on passengers’ difficulties in obtaining tickets online.

“The situation has resulted in ticket racketeering on the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) in recent times.

“To arrest the ugly situation, the management has set up a team, headed by the deputy director of ICT to investigate the rackettering,” TheNewsZenith quotes Mahmood as stating.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of NRC, Mr Freeborn Okhiria, has posted a new manager, Mohammed Ibrahim to the AKTS.

The new manager is to take over AKTS immediately.

According to the statement, Okhiria appealed to the general public, especially the passengers to bear with NRC.

He said the corporation was taking measure to bring the situation under control.

The Managing Director also directed the Director of Operation to increase train service frequencies on the route within the next two weeks, the PRO further stated.
