A socio-political group, The Collective Movement (TCM), has called for measures to prevent hoodlums from hijacking the planned nationwide protest.

TheNewsZeniths reports that the advice is coming ahead of the planned nationwide protest against `bad governance, hunger and hardship’.

Mrs Esther Opaluwah, TCM’s National Woman Leader, gave the advice in a statement emailed to TheNewsZenith on Tuesday in Lagos.

Opaluwah said both the government and the protest organisers should prevent violence and destruction while the protest lasts.

In the statement by TCM Media Director, Mazi Ndubuisi Nwachukwu, the women leader said security agencies should guard the activities of the protesters from the beginning.

She appealed to the security agencies to protect lives and property by ensuring the protest was peaceful.

Opaluwah also advised them against maltreating protesters who conduct themselves peacefully.

She stressed that every citizen was important to the country and must be allowed to express himself or herself on issues affecting the generality of the populace.

“There is lack of transparency, accountability in government, economic opportunities and job creation dangerous insecurity and threat to lives and property among others.

“An end to corruption and impunity, poverty, unemployment and insecurity are among issues confronting the nation which the protesters are marching against,’’ the TCM National Woman Leader said.

She also called on all tiers of governments to urgently pay adequate attention to these issues
