At least 16 civilians died in air and artillery strikes at a neighbourhood in Omdurman city, west of the Sudanese capital Khartoum, on Tuesday, a resistance committee said.
“The civilians died in this senseless war at the Ombada neighbourhood in Omdurman,” the Ombada’s Resistance Committee, a popular youth group, said in a statement.
It added that there were other victims at Souk Libya, a local market in Omdurman, due to the strikes.
In the meantime, the United Nations said the humanitarian situation in Sudan has turned into a full catastrophe.
“Yesterday marked 100 days since the eruption of war in Sudan, a crisis that turned a dire humanitarian situation into a full-blown catastrophe,” Clementine Nkweta-Salami, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Sudan, said in a statement on Tuesday.
The humanitarian community remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the people of Sudan.
It is making brave efforts to assist in difficult circumstances, the statement said.

“Yet, the horrendous acts of violence and abuse did not spare relief workers,” the UN official said.
Nkweta-Salami added that at least 18 aid workers have died and many more injured since the conflict started.
Humanitarian facilities have also been under attack. At least 50 humanitarian warehouses have been looted and 82 offices ransacked, according to the statement.
Sudan is witnessing deadly clashes between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in Khartoum and other areas since April 15.
More than 3,000 have died and over 6,000 injured in clashes, according to figures released by the Sudanese Health Ministry. (Xinhua)
