Agric Reality TV targets 10 million job creation in 5 years

The President, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Farouk Mudi, says the newly unveiled AGRIVEST Reality TV challenge platform would create 10 million agriculture-related jobs in five years.

Mudi said this at the signing of a pact between AFAN, TINGO mobile and the Association of Deans of Agriculture in Nigeria (ADAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.

The event also featured the unveiling of the AGRIVEST Reality TV.

“We are certain that this project will bring positive change to the agricultural industry and the communities within.

“I implore farmers and our members across the country to leverage on this positive trend to tap into this opportunity.

“It will enhance production and supply of agricultural and other agro-related goods and services.

“Our objective is to stimulate, create awareness and redirect the attention of the youths to the potential opportunities in agriculture wing of entertainment as a delivery channel,” the President said.

He said Reality TV would educate and entertain youths through a competitive approach.

He said in addition to the jobs and wealth creation for youths, the resurgence of the sector would guarantee security and reduce poverty in the country.

“The objectives of the programme will include building a nation where sustainable agriculture will become the bedrock and core foundation of a thriving economy and means of livelihood.

“It will Leverage our human and material resources, connecting with rural smallholder farmers to cultivate ideas for sustainable growth.”

AFAN boss noted that as the Nigerian population grows, the revival and sustainability of the sector became more critical.

Auwal Maude, CEO of TINGO Mobile, an Agri-Fintech company was optimistic the project would bring positive change to agricultural industry.

Maude said Tingo offera a comprehensive platform through the use of smartphones to empower subscribers and farmers in marketplace.

“We offer this agricultural service to enhance commercial activities of market participants, both domestically and internationally.

“TINGO Mobile urge the government to create an enabling environment for agriculture to thrive.

“The government should also agriculture more attractive for youths because agriculture goes beyond farming,”’ he said.

Dr Emmanuel Abuhson, founder of Agrivest Media Services Limited, urged Nigerian youths to view agriculture from a business marketing perspective.

“The project provides to generate large audience and incentivise them to ultimately make a purchase,” Abuhson said.
